Introduction

In South Tyneside we want all dads and male carers to feel welcome and included in our Family Hubs.

You are welcome to come along to our groups and activities with your children and there are even some groups that are just for dads/male carers.

If you want to find out more about how we support dads or how you can get more involved, pop along to your local Family Hub.

Support Available

DadPad

Dads’ and dads-to-be can gain free access to the newly launched DadPad app, an easy-to-use resource packed with relevant information, as well as details on local support groups and service providers.

The app covers topics such as:

  • Feeding, holding, changing and cleaning your baby
  • Surviving without sleep and coping with crying
  • Getting to know your baby
  • Home safety and first aid
  • Looking after yourself and supporting your partner

North East Young Dads & Lads

NEYDL is a unique youth support service that is dedicated to helping young men and young fathers to play an active and meaningful role in the lives of their children, within families and wider society.

We offer a non-judgmental service that is based on mutual trust, respect and honesty. We listen and respond to the challenges facing young men and work with them on a voluntary basis to find positive and long-term solutions. We operate a ‘revolving door’ policy that enables young men to return time and again for help, assistance and friendship.

Early Words Together (3 – 4 years)

A 6-week programme to help families to support their child’s communication and development. Receive free books and spend quality time with your child.

KalmaBaby Yoga (Booking required)

We have teamed up with KalmaBaby South Tyneside to bring you a course of KalmaBaby Yoga sessions. Cost: £7

HENRY Preparing for Parenthood (Antenatal)

A 6-week programme to help expectant parents develop a healthy lifestyle for themselves and their baby whilst preparing for birth and caring for a new baby.

Little explorers

Little Explorers is a 6-week programme for toddlers led by Early Years Practitioners who will provide you with guidance and support to use in your own home. The programme focuses on communication, health and wellbeing, safety, development milestones and leaning through play.

Baby Explorers

For ages conception to mobile – a programme of 6 sessions. Focus is on bonding and attachment, communication, health and wellbeing, safety, development milestones and learning through play. Booking essential – please contact the family hub directly.

HENRY Understanding Behaviours

90-minute workshop The workshop gives opportunities to share experiences within a small group with other parents and carers, find new ways of reducing stress and gain new ideas to manage daily family life to get your little ones off to a great start.
