This June, South Tyneside Family Hubs were delighted to celebrate Father’s Day with a fantastic programme of fun, inclusive activities for dads, father figures, and families to enjoy together.
Across the week, our Learning Through Play sessions were full of Father’s Day-themed activities, giving families the opportunity to spend quality time together in a relaxed and welcoming environment. From creative play to shared experiences, it was wonderful to see so many dads getting involved and making special memories with their children.
Little Dribblers – In Partnership with Foundation of Light
One of the highlights of the week was our Little Dribblers football sessions, delivered in partnership with the Foundation of Light. These sessions were a huge hit, giving children and their grown-ups the chance to get active, have fun, and build confidence through sport.
We would like to say a big thank you to the Foundation of Light for supporting us with these engaging and energetic sessions – they brought smiles to faces and created brilliant opportunities for families to connect through play.
Toy Story-Themed Celebration at Hebburn Family Hub
Our celebrations ended on a high with a special Toy Story-themed session on Saturday 20th June at Hebburn Family Hub. The session brought together families for a morning full of fun, play, and creativity, all inspired by the much-loved characters.
It was especially meaningful to offer a Saturday session, giving working parents and carers the opportunity to join in and celebrate together.
What Families Said
We received some fantastic feedback from families who attended:
“Great session. Nice and relaxed. Playroom facilities are excellent and clean!”
“Great session. Great to be at a time working parents can come along. Great for all ages. Thank you!”
“We really enjoyed it! Thank you!”
“Great session for parents/dads busy through the week. Ruby loved it!”
“Loved the session today. There aren’t a lot of sessions for parents who work. Thank you!”
Bringing Families Together
These celebrations highlighted the importance of creating opportunities that are accessible to all families, including those who may not be able to attend during the week. It was fantastic to see dads, grandads, and carers enjoying time with their children, building bonds, and making lasting memories.
A huge thank you to everyone who attended and helped make our Father’s Day events so special, and to our partners who supported delivery.
We look forward to welcoming you to more sessions across South Tyneside Family Hubs soon!
