South Tyneside families helped make our first birthday celebrations one to remember as over 400 people enjoyed a week’s worth of activities across several Hub destinations.

The Hubs welcomed people of all ages and backgrounds, with various activities on offer throughout the week to suit a wide range of interests.

Featuring a range of activities including baby sensory, balloon making and multisports, activities were also on offer for those with a passion for animals. Tails ‘N Snails and Animal Antics delivered a unique experience for families with Giant African millipedes, land snails and red tortoises just some of the special guests in attendance.

Tiny Tweeties delivered adventures of their own as young people and their families enjoyed pirate themed sessions with lots of singing and dancing. Cultural Spring enabled families to showcase their creative side making various arts and crafts including jewellery, bracelets and keyrings.

To mark South Tyneside Family Hubs turning one, families were also treated to a free family barbecue and climb at Simonside Climbing Wall.

After the birthday celebrations concluded, Gemma Briggs, Operational Manager Family Help Services, was quick to dedicate the successful week to the hardworking staff at South Tyneside Family Hubs. She said: “The whole week has been a massive success.

“Welcoming over 400 people to our Hubs is testament to all the hard work our staff do behind the scenes. Our partners also played a crucial part in the success of the event, ensuring so many children and their families had a fantastic experience.

“It has been an incredible year and to see so many smiles on everyone’s faces makes it all worthwhile. We hope families enjoyed all of the activities on offer and thank you to everyone who came to our first birthday celebrations.”

We’d also like to thank National Literacy Trust, Baby Sensory South Tyneside, Tails ‘N Snails, Foundation of Light, Tiny Tweeties, Animal Antics, Hartbeeps UK and Cultural Springs for supporting our event.
